Greg Lavender, Board Member

Greg Lavender has more than 40 years of experience in software and hardware product engineering, cloud-scale systems architecture engineering, and advanced research and development. Prior to his role as CTO at Intel where he currently oversees software strategy across AI, security, confidential and accelerated computing, he held leadership positions at VMware, Citigroup, Cisco Systems and Sun Microsystems. Before his career in tech began, he was on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin for 14 years, including three years as Associate Chairman for Academics. In 2024 he was named one of the “Top 10 most influential CTOs” by Technology Magazine.

Dr. Lavender holds a B.S. degree in computer science from the University of Georgia, and a M.S. and PhD in computer science from Virginia Tech. He is an academic philanthropist having endowed three undergraduate scholarships and three PhD Fellowships. He serves on three academic advisory boards and is a Trustee of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens Greece.
